It’s hard to talk about the year that was 2020 without mentioning the carona virus pandemic that swept the world. You’ve probably already read a thousand covid business stories though, so I’ll keep ours brief.
Melbourne businesses experienced one of the longest and strictest lockdowns in the world. Our amazing team adapted brilliantly to a long, new work-from-home normal. And, not only did we get through 2020 but we thrived.
For this I thank each and every member of our team and every one of our amazing clients who stuck with us through this challenging year. Together we built some amazing apps in 2020.
That’s all I’ll say about Covid. Here’s what we achieved and what went right this year!
It wasn’t easy to do during a pandemic but thanks to the dedication of our director Karl, we somehow managed to open a new South Yarra office this year. We’ve had this beautiful new space ready for months now without being able to move in. It’s very exciting to finally see people at the desks and in the meeting rooms, following covid-safe guidelines of course.
This year we said goodbye to a couple of team members (don’t worry, they are fine) and welcomed some amazing new ones to the DreamWalk family. Chandi, James and Amud have been incredibly valuable additions to the DreamWalk lineup and bring a high level of experience and seniority to our business. Welcome guys and we look forward to working with you in person a lot more in 2021!

New Releases and App Launches
Even with delays due to covid, 2020 was still a monumental year for app releases. This year saw the long awaited release of food delivery app, Snackr. Snackr enables people at sporting or entertainment events to order food for delivery directly to their seats. Initially scheduled for launch in the first quarter of the year, Snackr was ultimately delayed until sporting arenas reopened. It finally launched at the KFC Big Bash (Cricket) this December and early feedback is very promising for the startup.
2020 also saw the successful release of the following apps built by DreamWalk:
- Puntshare – Sports betting just got social
- Easy Weddings – Six new versions of the highly successful wedding planner app
- Recycle Mate – The addition of the Recycle Soldier feature to this high profile NSW government/EPA initiative.
- Maddocks Digital – Major app updates and releases for the prestigeous law firm.
- Ana Audit – An important resource and tool for anesthetists
- The Secret – Eight releases of the highly popular and top-grossing lifestyle app – The Secret to Money.
- Tradex – Proof of Concept web app released to the public
We also completed app prototypes and continued design and development work on approximately 15 other apps for various companies and new startups. We look forward to releasing them in 2021!

After meeting the team from Porsche earlier in the year and a relatively quick tender process, we were fortunate enough to kick off work on a brand new Porsche app in September. While the details of the project are still top-secret, we are extremely excited to be wrapping up development work on the first release early in the new year. A big 2021 ahead for the Porsche / DreamWalk collaboration.

DreamWalk Christmas Party
There was lots to celebrate this year and thanks to covid restrictions finally easing, we were able to send off 2020 in style! Here are some pics from our Chirstmas party last week.
